This program is available to homeowners who live in single-family homes, condos, townhomes, duplexes and manufactured homes. You can apply for help with exterior repairs, such as weather caulking, window upgrades, landscaping and installation of handrails and ramps. The program also covers many types of interior repairs involving plumbing and electrical work, renovations to improve accessibility, and structural reinforcement.

Who Is Eligible?
You may qualify for between $5,000 and $20,000 in free home repairs if you own the home you live in, you meet the current income eligibility requirements, and you are either a U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident.

As of 2021, the annual gross income limit for a one-person household was $66,250, while a two-person household could earn up to $75,700. Note that these limits are subject to change each year.

Elderly Nutrition Program

The Elderly Nutrition Program helps to ensure that older adults have access to healthy, prepared low-cost meals. Participants can either select the frozen prepared meal pick-up or delivery option for seniors who are able to store frozen meals and heat the meals up or a daily brown-bagged lunch pick-up on weekdays for those who can’t store frozen meals or warm up their food.

The suggested donation for each meal is $2.50, but you won’t be turned away if you’re unable to contribute towards the cost of your meals.

Who Is Eligible?
The Elderly Nutrition Program is open to all seniors aged 60 or older who live in Los Angeles County, which includes all of Glendale.

Seniors who sign up for the frozen meal service can either have their meals picked up at a designated distribution site, or ask that their meals be delivered to their home by city staff. The LA Animal Services Seniors for Seniors Program helps connect older adults with adoptable dogs and cats who need loving homes. This program provides seniors aged 62 and older with half-priced adoption fees at all city animal shelters and mobile adoption sites, and all adoptable animals are spayed or neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. Low-income seniors can also qualify for a discount on their dog license fees.
